Feast Starter with “free” White Glove? – Food Blogger Pro https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/getting-started/feast-starter-with-free-white-glove/feed/ Sat, 18 Jan 2025 11:07:57 +0000 https://bbpress.org/?v=2.6.11 en-US https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/getting-started/feast-starter-with-free-white-glove/#post-127574 <![CDATA[Feast Starter with “free” White Glove?]]> https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/getting-started/feast-starter-with-free-white-glove/#post-127574 Fri, 23 Feb 2024 18:46:37 +0000 Kari

I’m just getting started, and I’m wondering if the “white glove” service being offered from Feast seems a little too good to be true? Here’s where I’m at so far:

 • Domain is all set (kahlgirlkitchen.com)
 • Bigscoots starter plan has been purchased for hosting
 • I’ve decided to go with the Feast Starter package for $97/year…just to get some posts up over the next 6 mo – 1 year
 • Ultimately I’d love to monetize; but first, I just want to get the content going

I’m seeing that BigScoots and Feast Starter have collab’d to offer a “free” white glove package for the first year (nearly a $1000 value…?!). This sounds great, especially in a world where I’m getting itchy to just START creating content. However, it seems a bit too good to be true. I don’t want to risk an accidental purchase of this service a year from now which isn’t in the budget. Anyone have experience with the white glove? Are Feast Starter and White Glove the way to go, when you’re just ready to start cooking and writing? Thanks!

Kari

Hi Kari!

Sounds like you’re in really good place for getting started. Like you mentioned, just starting to consistently post content this year is by far the most important thing you can do.

I know lots of FBP members have used and recommended the Feast white-glove service (see here for an example), but I don’t think it’s necessary. That being said, if they’re currently offering a free promo on it for a year, it couldn’t hurt to use it! Just BE SURE to set a calendar event/reminder on your phone for a year from now to cancel it 😅

Thanks, Emily. I appreciate the links to related discussions in the forum! Now, I just need to decide between the five classic Feast themes. 😉

Hi: I provide theme support for Feast Design Co. The free setup is for users who have managed hosting with BigScoots. The cost of the Feast Starter plugin is $97, and the hosting is *not* free. What *is* free is the setup of the theme & the Feast Starter plugin.

The setup includes installing the Genesis Framework, the Feast theme, the Feast Starter plugin, and setting up all the recommended settings. That is free of charge.

A year from subscribing to the service, you will be charged for continued use of the Feast Starter plugin ($97), and your hosting fees through Big Scoots (which you can sign up on a month by month basis, so there’s no big surprise a year from now; I believe with tax, it’s around $34 a month)

While the setup might “seem too good to be true”, it actually benefits both you as the consumer and us at Feast; if you get everything set up correctly in the first place, it generally means less support tickets, so we can spend more of our time on development, and you can jump right into adding your own content. Its a win-win 🙂

We’ve been able to collaborate with BigScoots to semi-automate the setup service, which is why it’s an option that we can offer you free of charge.

I would be happy to answer any further questions you have!

Great info, Susan. Makes perfect sense. Thank you! I plan to move ahead with the Feast Starter and Feast Starter White-glove. I’ll take all the help I can get ;)!

Hi Kari,

I am new here and I’m so glad I found your post because I am leaning toward going the same route with the Feast Starter. Would you mind sharing your experience, please? Are you all set up now? How did it go? Do you mind sharing your site? Any tips? I am a little confused on the process. I have a domain, but unsure where to go from here and if Feast Starter is right for me.

Thanks,

Janice

Hi, Janice –

Since this last post of mine, “life” happened…and delayed things for a bit. I’m now back to starting the process and will let you know how my theme setup goes. I’ve decided to go with the Cook’d theme. I’m not sure if Feast will ask that I have all categories decided before they set up my theme? Or if they just establish a ‘shell’, and I begin the process of figuring out the layout, etc. from that point. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Kari

Hi, Kari – I wanted to clarify this question for you.

The Starter Site White Glove is for brand new sites, so you don’t have to have any categories or content. Big Scoots have an automated process for setting everything up for you, which includes the demo content (including the categories used in the demo). This is not a migration of an existing site – it’s a blank, brand new site.
