Photo Content That’s Personal? – Food Blogger Pro https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/photography/photo-content-thats-personal/feed/ Sat, 18 Jan 2025 12:07:57 +0000 https://bbpress.org/?v=2.6.11 en-US https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/photography/photo-content-thats-personal/#post-126567 <![CDATA[Photo Content That’s Personal?]]> https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/community/photography/photo-content-thats-personal/#post-126567 Sun, 10 Dec 2023 16:03:20 +0000 Kristen Morrone

Hi all,

I’m just starting my blog up and wanted to get some feedback on what I’m hoping to achieve with my photography.

Most of the photography I see on food blogs is very beautiful and well-executed, but it feels staged.

I want to give people a peek inside my home, my life and my cooking process so that it feels more authentic. I think it’s the one thing we have against AI at this point – real, relatable and personal content. Almost a cross between blog content and influencer content. I don’t want to go crazy with personal anecdotes, but thought it may be beneficial to show myself cooking in my real kitchen with its natural backdrops.

Does anyone else do this? Are there any blogs you’re aware of that do this as well? I hope I’m explaining myself well.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Kristen,

One of the most natural foodies I’ve seen is Teri at nocrumbsleft. If she’s staging her work, then she’s working really hard to make everything look really natural! She has a sensational following and has inspired many of us.

Good luck!

Jo

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that approach, but I would still suggest doing a photo that showcases the food itself for the featured image and the image in the recipe card. The image that shows in search results can be a bit small, and people want to see how the food looks in a recipe. Consider when you look up a recipe online and what kind of photos make it more likely for you to want to click on to read more.

Thank you! yes the idea was definitely to keep up with the “standard” for the featured images / pin images, but to add some other personal touches throughout the posts. thank you for this feedback!
