Hi friends and yes, here it comes again…as if there isn’t enough traffic stuff going on, we food bloggers tend to go through a summer traffic slump as folks go on vacation and generally don’t want to cook as much.  It can be disheartening (raises hand!) so I always make a point of reading this great post from Ali at Gimme Some Oven.  She wrote it a while back, but it’s still got so much great advice and encouragement.  So just wanted to share in case it helps anyone else as much as it has helped me every summer!  Happy long weekend.  🙂

Thanks for sharing! Quick question, do you blog consistently throughout the seasons? Right now i aim for biweekly, hoping to go weekly eventually. Since im new to blogging im not ready to take time off completely, but planning time to work on bigger projects sounds enticing.

Hi Keanu!

I do, but I am going on year 15 (yikes!) of blogging.  I usually post 3 times a week, but during the summer weeks I will post only two a week here and there, and I spend the other time working on optimizing the overall site, catching up on reading about best practices (there is SO much good info right here on FBP), etc.  Since you are still in the early days, I think working on bigger projects that will help strengthen your blog overall is a great idea – I wish I had done more of that in my own early days!  Have a great summer.  🙂

Thanks for sharing this, as I’ve been experiencing it as well! One thing I’m curious about is has anyone seen this “summer slump” impact their DA? Mine has recently decreased in spite of me consistently posting, updating old content, installing the Feast plug-in, etc.
