Hey everyone,

I’m very excited to build my blog and I’m committed to build something appealing that I can be proud of. I’ve read that Feast is the best theme to get started and also that WP tasty is a very recommended recipe car plug in.

Are Feast Starter plugin and WP tasty plugin compatible? Would yo recommend to start the blog with both tools? If not, what would you recommend me?

Thanks a lot!

Hey Daniel,

I would think that the two would be compatible, but I can’t say for sure. It might be worth reaching out to Feast’s team to see if they have a better read on this! We had a member post in the forum about the two plugins a few years back, and the only red flag that came up was that their force pinning feature stopped working — since this was so long ago, the issue has likely been resolved.

That said, I’ll add this post to our weekly member email going out tomorrow to see if anyone else has insights to share here!

Hi Ann,

thank you it will be nice to have direct feedback form someone who have had direct experience using both.

I’ve contacted Feast support and this is the reply I got from them:

“There are no conflicts with Tasty Recipes and the Feast Plugin Starter. It’s a recipe card, which is another required component of running a successful food blog along with a theme.”

I’m going to give it a try myself and give you update with my experience.

Cheers!

Hi Daniel!

I have the Feast plug-in theme and Tasty Pins and have had no problems. You don’t have to worry about a compatibility issue between Feast and a recipe plug-in as much as you should consider how the recipe plug-in works for your needs and whether it’s a quality plug-in.

From what I’ve read about other blogs, most people use WP Tasty or WPRM. I have used both and prefer Tasty, but WPRM worked well and has a free version. Also, I switched from WPRM to Tasty, and the changeover was pretty seamless.

You can’t go wrong either way, and both work with Feast. I had 3 other free or inexpensive themes before purchasing Feast, and if I could go back, I would’ve just started with Feast. For me, it was a money thing, and I wasn’t sure if I would stick with blogging, so using a free or $20 theme was a “safe” choice at the time.

I’m honestly unsure if the forced pinning issue is still a thing. I also use Tasty Pins which allows me to choose which photos on the post are re-pinnable and which are locked. In my opinion, if someone wants to pick the photo they pin from my post, it’s fine with me. At least they’re doing it!

Hope that helps!

I’d also recommend Feast’s Plugin Audit page! It’s a great resource for checking the compatibility of various plugins.

They specify that these three recipe card plugins are compatible with Feast:

  • WP Recipe Maker
  • Create
  • Tasty Recipes

Hope that helps!
