Hey Audrey!

I haven’t tried Chicory, but I know a few other members have weighed in on their past experiences in the forum. I’ll link to those threads here for you: 1, 2, and 3! A couple of these threads are older, so the Chicory experience has likely changed a bit since then — take those with a grain of salt. 😅

Either way, I’ve featured this post on our dashboard to see what other members have to say! It does seem to be a pretty neat tool!

Hello fellow food bloggers,

I was wondering if anyone has heard or even tried using Chicory?

Chicory is a contextual commerce solution, which is a fancy way of saying it’s an additional monetization strategy you can put on your recipe cards without it competing with your ad network. It will add an ingredient ad to your ingredients list and a CTA button to buy the ingredients for your recipe.

Has anyone tried this? If so, what has been your experience? If you’re comfortable answering this question, how much have you made or have you been satisfied with your earnings?

So far in my research, it seems like a pretty cool and easy additional way to monetize your content. Are there other competitors of Chicory that’s popular with food blogs? I want to say I’ve seen a similar ingredients monetization tool, like instacart (i think that’s the one I’ve seen), but not sure. How do I decide which one to go with?

Chicory definitely seems like one of the better tools I’ve come across, but I also want to make sure I’m picking the best tool and maximizing my earnings 🙂

Thanks in advance,

Audrey Sommer

Hi Alex,

My RPM hasn’t dropped, they’ve remained the same through August. I have experienced a little dip in traffic in august, especially the last couple of weeks, which is making me earn just a little less per day.

Hope that helps,

Hey Tammy!

I haven’t used either, but you might find this article that compares the two helpful. I’ll include this post in the Friday member email to get more people to weigh in here!

Hello everyone,

It’s exactly the same for me. My RPM suddenly dropped very sharply in August. I thought it might have something to do with the summer slump, but it’s been like this for 2 weeks now. I also wanted to ask here how it is for you? And whether anyone has an explanation for this?

Kind regards
Shiba

I’m going to be adding ecommerce to my site and would like to hear thoughts and opinions on WooCommerce vs. Shopify. Do you use one or the other? What made you choose one over the other?

Hi! My RPM is lower this month compared to July, which is weird. However, July was also strangely high!

Just curious: am I the only one? or is this a trend amongst many bloggers this year?

Aleka Shunk from Cooking with Keywords mentioned drink recipes have lower RPMs in her course, both cocktails for the reasons Bjork stated above and I believe any beverage in general due to being shorter form content like Chris so there aren’t as many ads in the post as opposed to a travel blog post or for example a pasta or soup recipe.
